Alongside our national governing body partners, national partners and regional sport partnerships, we also invest in other partners in the sector. These organisations work throughout Wales and the UK, contributing to a thriving sport system.

CIMSPA

CIMSPA are the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity. They are the professional development body for the UK’s sport and physical activity sector. They aim to: 

  • shape a recognised, valued and inclusive sport and physical activity sector 
  • Support and develop sport professionals 
  • highlight the impact that the sport and physical activity workforce makes to the UK

Commonwealth Games Wales

Commonwealth Games Wales (CGW) is the lead body for Commonwealth sport in Wales. They’re responsible for selecting, preparing and leading Team Wales at the Commonwealth Games. They aim to: 

  • deliver the best prepared team possible 
  • create an inspiring environment and provide strong leadership 
  • unite the Commonwealth through sport

SportsAid Cymru Wales

SportsAid Cymru Wales provide funding, encouragement and recognition to young athletes. From a wide variety of disciplines and sports within Wales. They aim to: 

  • ease financial barriers for talented young sportspeople 
  • encourage performance and commitment 
  • help turn today’s young athletes into tomorrow’s champions

Welsh Institute of Performance Science

The Welsh Institute of Performance Science (WIPS) collaborates with academic and industry partners. Their research explores athlete health and wellbeing, development and environments. They aim to: 

  • better apply science to Welsh sports 
  • develop sport science in Wales and train future sport scientists 
  • increase collaboration between Welsh sport, academia and business

Welsh Institute of Physical Activity, Health and Sport

The Welsh Institute of Physical Activity, Health and Sport (WIPAHS) collaborates with academics, policy makers, the public and others. Researching national wellbeing and health. They aim to: 

  • combine different areas of research to create meaningful insights 
  • translate research into practical applications 
  • improve the health and wellbeing of the population
