Black Swimming Association

The Black Swimming Association (BSA) aims to make the aquatics sector more diverse. Through consultancy, support, research and education. They aim to help people of African, Caribbean and Asian heritage: 

  • have equal, safe access to water safety 
  • reduce drowning risk 
  • benefit from engaging in aquatics, from boardroom to grassroots   

They support partners by: 

  • promoting diversity and inclusion in aquatics for all communities 
  • advising how to design and deliver inclusive programmes 
  • training and mentoring people from under-represented backgrounds

Boys’ and Girls’ Club of Wales

The Boys’ and Girls’ Clubs of Wales (BGC Wales) is made of up youth clubs across the country. They give young people the chance to take part in a range of activities, including sport. They aim to help young people: 

  • with their mental, moral and physical development 
  • by giving them a safe space to train and develop in 
  • gain self-confidence, motivation and communication skills 

They work with partner organisations to provide: 

  • access to sport and physical activity for young people 
  • training in youth work, safeguarding, first aid and sport leadership

ColegauCymru

ColegauCymru represent and promote the further education (FE) sector in Wales. Their ‘active wellbeing’ support for colleges aims to improve learner wellbeing. As well as strengthen the wider FE sector. They aim to: 

  • improve learners’ emotional, social and physical wellbeing 
  • help create a more active, healthy and confident college community 
  • support better access to sport and physical activity 

They work with sector networks and professional groups to: 

  • share best practice for active wellbeing across colleges 
  • show stakeholders the benefits of active wellbeing in FE 
  • strengthen the FE sector and expand opportunities for learners and staff

Disability Sport Wales

Disability Sport Wales (DSW) are a charity that help disabled people benefit from sport and physical activity. Ensuring disabled people are as likely to enjoy physical activity as non-disabled people. They aim to: 

  • create a sport sector where every disabled person can take part in sport 
  • offer real choice for where, when and how people play sport 

They work with clubs, national governing bodies and other third sector organisations to: 

  • get inclusion accepted and embraced across the sporting landscape 
  • provide workshops and learning resources for delivering inclusive sport opportunities 
  • help coaches and volunteers create a more inclusive environment for disabled people

Girlguiding Cymru

Girlguiding Cymru provide youth services in communities across Wales. Helping girls aged 4 to 25 years old develop their skills and wellbeing. They aim to help girls and young women: 

  • get involved in physical activity and sport, developing their confidence and skills 
  • have equal opportunities in sport 
  • to be sports educators, peer mentors and young leaders 

They work in partnership with national governing bodies to: 

  • offer experiences to try new sports and activities in a safe environment 
  • provide additional training and workshops to girls 
  • offer sport leadership qualifications

Leadership Skills Foundation

Leadership Skills Foundation provide leadership awards and qualifications to thousands of young people every year in Wales. They aim to: 

  • support young people from all backgrounds across all communities in Wales 
  • get young people to shape their own futures and lead their communities 
  • teach young people employability and life skills, improving confidence, communication and self-esteem 

They collaborate with local authorities, schools and national governing bodies to: 

  • give young people the tools to succeed in education, employment and beyond 
  • produce future coaches, officials and leaders 
  • create an infrastructure that the sector can benefit from

The Outdoor Partnership

The Outdoor Partnership work across Wales to support people taking up outdoor activities as a lifelong pursuit. They aim to: 

  • encourage people to be active in the outdoors 
  • build capacity for local participation and skills development 
  • develop quality programmes that provide enjoyable outdoor experiences 

They work with key partners and stakeholder to: 

  • deliver and promote access to the outdoors 
  • share learning across the sector 
  • provide training and education to improve employability in the sector

Sported Foundation

Sported is Wales’s largest network of grassroots community sport groups tackling inequality. Supporting local people running groups, creating lasting social change within their communities. They aim to: 

  • provide free professional support to people running sport and physical activity groups 
  • focus on the most under-served communities in Wales 
  • help young people from all backgrounds 

They are keen to collaborate with organisations and national governing bodies to: 

  • deliver long term community development 
  • guide groups on fundraising and business planning 
  • improve the strength and sustainability of community sports groups

StreetGames

StreetGames uses sport to change young people's lives in low income and under-served communities. They aim to: 

  • ensure everyone in Wales benefits from taking part in sport 
  • address high-level inequalities between the poorest and richest young people

  • deliver training workshops and qualifications

UDOIT! Dance Foundation

UDOIT! uses street dance to engage and inspire young people. Particularly those from disadvantaged or less active backgrounds. Helping them to build confidence and connect with their communities. They aim to: 

  • use dance to re‑engage young people in education 
  • provide inclusive, accessible opportunities to be active  
  • help young people feel valued and more connected through positive dance experiences  

They work with local authorities and organisations to: 

  • give young people to access inclusive street dance sessions in their communities  
  • deliver programmes and events that encourage ongoing physical activity  
  • reach young people who may face barriers by offering safe, supportive environments

The Urdd

The Urdd is a large Welsh language youth organisation. They provide sporting, arts and residential experiences for young people. They aim to: 

  • use the Welsh language and sport to engage with children, young people and families 
  • increase opportunities for taking part in sport 
  • support and develop coaches and volunteers 

They work with clubs and organisations to: 

  • provide sport and physical activity through the Welsh Language 
  • organise and run high-level regional and national competitions 
  • offer sport apprenticeships and training

Wales Council for Voluntary Action - Sport Diversity Cymru

Sport Diversity Cymru is bringing communities across Wales together to transform sport. Strengthening ethnically diverse communities through sport for a more inclusive future. They aim to: 

  • promote the transformative power of sport 
  • increase the amount of people taking part in sport from ethnically diverse communities 
  • make sports clubs more welcoming and inclusive 

They support national governing bodies, clubs and sport partnerships by sharing how to: 

  • engage with diverse communities 
  • make services accessible to marginalised groups

Welsh Sports Association

The Welsh Sports Association (WSA) is the independent membership body for the sport and leisure sector in Wales. They aim to: 

  • strengthen the sport and leisure sector in Wales 
  • be a united, independent voice that shapes policy and decisions 
  • offer practical tools, training, governance and funding support 

They support partners by: 

  • represent the sector with the Welsh Government and policy officials 
  • delivering sector-wide services like the bilingual DBS checking service 
  • offering skills in business, inclusion and sustainability

Youth Sport Trust

Youth Sport Trust is a charity that supports educators and young people across Wales. Using sport and physical activity to improve wellbeing, confidence and leadership skills. They aim to: 

  • help schools develop high‑quality physical education 
  • encourage youth leadership 
  • ensure sport is inclusive, accessible and positive for every child and young person 

They work with local authorities, national governing bodies and education groups to: 

  • reduce barriers that limit young people’s access to and enjoyment of sport 
  • get young people to take on leadership and mentoring roles 
  • share research and insights to help partners better understand young people’s needs
