Using the framework 

The framework includes core elements, which are the minimum standards you should meet. The framework also includes good practice elements. These cover governance and leadership areas your organisations can develop. The framework covers 5 key principles: 

  1. Organisational and legal compliance 
  2. People and cultures 
  3. Insight, engagement and strategy 
  4. An effectively run organisation 
  5. Finance 

To make the most of the framework you should: 

  • review and understand the core elements and good practice examples 
  • check your organisation against these elements 
  • create a governance and people improvement plan to support continuous development
