Schools play a vital role in getting young people active and putting in place the building blocks for a lifelong enjoyment of sport.
Through curricular and extra-curricular sport, there should be opportunities throughout the school day for participation.
Sport Wales has developed resources to support teachers and school staff in the primary phase and for extra-curricular sport in primary schools.
We work with local authorities to collect data on sports participation in schools through our School Sport Survey.
We invest in local authorities to deliver programmes of activity that link schools sport with sport in the local community.
And we support programmes, such as the Young Ambassadors programme, which has developed an army of young leaders across Wales.
