How does Youth Sport Trust work help Sport Wales to achieve an Active Nation?
Through their different projects, YST encourage skill development, sports participation and support underrepresented groups.
Any young person that has an interest in volunteering in sport can receive support from YST. If a young person wants to help others improve their wellbeing through sport and physical activity YST can help them developing their leadership skills.
Through the Girls Active project, YST help teachers and female leaders to develop their understanding of how they can ensure girls participate in and enjoy school sport and PE.
YST have also helped develop and support a network of Headteachers and PE teachers across Wales to become advocates for School Sport and PE
How can Youth Sport Trust support the wider network of partners in our united Vision for Sport?
As part of their work, YST engage with a number of stakeholders including all 22 Local Authority Sport Development teams, NGBs, Colegau Cymru, Universities, WCVA and other National partners such as Sports Leaders and Street Games. They have also developed a relationship with Public Health Wales, Velindre, Children’s Commissioner’s Office and the Future Generation’s Office.
YST are passionate about supporting sports organisations across Wales to develop their youth leadership programmes and pathways, growing the leadership skills of the young people involved in their organisation.
Over the last year we have conducted research that can add value to the work many partners are doing across Wales and have compiled it into a brochure for partners to access.
