Sport Wales and the Welsh Government are pleased to launch a brand-new resource for the sport sector in Wales. The resource is part of Data Map Wales and is designed to support those seeking up to date information on artificial pitches in Wales. The aim of the collaboration is to bring together the existing data, and continue to ensure it remains live and active, to both better inform the public of their local facilities and help improve future investment decisions.
Jack Sargeant, Minister for Culture, Skills and Social Partnership of Wales, said:
“It’s fantastic news that anyone can now look up the location and availability of their nearest artificial sport pitch through Data Map Wales. It signposts people to many of the facilities the Welsh Government has invested in through Sport Wales and supports our commitment to provide inclusive, accessible and sustainable opportunities for people across Wales to enjoy both the physical and mental health benefits of sport.”
Sport Wales CEO, Brian Davies added, “We are really pleased to be able to launch this resource alongside Welsh Government colleagues. Sport Wales, working with key partners, have invested significantly in the development of the nations artificial pitch network. Ensuring that people are aware of where those facilities are to plan their use and maximise the benefits for community sport is an important consideration. This new resource is a positive step in connecting those dots.”
