  4. Coronavirus Update – Sport Wales National Centre Closures

Sport Wales’ National Centres in Cardiff and Caernarfon (Plas Menai) will be closed to the public with effect from 18:00 Wednesday March 18th 2020.

Sport Wales National Centre in Cardiff and the Sport Wales National Outdoor Centre, Plas Menai will be closed until further notice to members of the public following recent updated advice from the UK Government.

Bookings

If you have questions or concerns about a booking at either facility, you should contact the centres via email on:

Cardiff: [javascript protected email address]

Plas Menai: [javascript protected email address]

Please note that bookings taking place during the closure will either be refunded in full, or we can look at rescheduling to a later date. You should email your refund or rearrangement requests to the email addresses above.

Silver & Gold Members (National Centre, Cardiff)

No direct debit payments will be taken on 1st April 2020.  We will review future payments when the Centre re-opens.

Clubs and Activities

If you are a member of a club or activity that holds sessions at our facilities, then you should contact the club or activity to find out if alternative arrangements have been put in place.

Sport Wales Business

Sport Wales staff will be working remotely until further notice. This will be the case for all staff, unless they are carrying out an essential service at our facilities.

The business of Sport Wales will continue, and we have asked staff to conduct business meetings via tools such as Skype, or by telephone.

Sport Wales partners should continue to use their usual lines of communication – such as their designated Sport Wales senior officer or performance officer – so that we can continue to provide a service to partners while the facilities are closed.

If you work for, or with, a governing body or organisation based at one of the facilities, you should contact them directly if you have questions about ongoing work and communication.

Athletes

There will be changes to the way the Sport Wales Institute will be supporting you. Sport Wales staff are in contact with your performance director/coaches regarding contingency arrangements.

Grants and Funding

The Sport Wales grants team will be operating while the centres are closed. If you have a query about an application you have made, contact the team on [javascript protected email address]
