Sport Wales announces new sport sector learning programme

A major programme of learning and development for the Welsh sport sector will begin in January 2020, Sport Wales has announced.

The Communications Learning and Insights Programme (CLIP) will provide regular access to education and training opportunities.

The programme is a joint approach from the Sport Wales communications and insight teams and will offer training and support focussed on areas such as evidencing impact, using data, social media and use of technology in marketing.

CLIP will be subsidised by Sport Wales to ensure sessions are affordable for the range of organisations that make up the Welsh sport sector.

It follows a successful trial that saw 100% of attendees rate learning sessions as highly valued and 95% saying it had already proved beneficial to their work.

Sessions will be available in person or online, with practical classes taking place in different locations across the country to improve access.

Paul Batcup, Digital Content Manager for Sport Wales, commented:

"At the heart of the Sport Wales's strategy is our commitment to help support a successful sport sector, led by collective insight and learning.  This programme is a key aspect of delivering on that commitment.

"Technology in particular is changing the way people are engaging with sport and exercise and we have to make our offer relevant and exciting.

"While we know that evidence is only impactful if it is effectively communicated, which is why the insight and communications themes have been developed in parallel. We want those that take part in the programme to understand how best to improve the way their work as a result of their data.

"Our approach of learning together, delivering together and celebrating together with our partners, is central to way in which this programme has been designed, and we are excited to continue to build on the huge success of the original CLIP pilot."

CLIP will have dedicated 'terms' of learning, with the first running from January to April 2020 under the theme of 'Being Person Centred / Understanding Your Audience'.

And each term will include different ways to learn:

  1. Events
  2. Learning Sessions
  3. Online

Details of the learning sessions will be released shortly.
