The new Prohibited List comes
into effect on 1st January 2017.
Sport Wales works in partnership with National Governing Bodies
of sport in Wales and UK Anti-Doping (UKAD) to ensure that athletes
are aware of their responsibilities and compete clean.
With the 2015 UKAD Code in place, it is essential that
individuals competing in sport in Wales (at all levels) are aware
of their responsibilities and the strict rules around anti-doping,
while governing bodies are required to carry out anti-doping
education for their athletes and provide information on the tougher
sanctions that have been introduced.
All Sport Wales Institute practitioners are required to
undertake anti-doping education as part of their work with

UKAD provides clear
information and guidelines on doping in sport in the UK.

The World Anti Doping
Agency (WADA) provides essential updates and
guidance on prohibited substances as well as information
on Therapeutic Use Exemptions (TUE).
Therapeutic Use Exemption Forms (TUE)
The Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE) process is a means by which
an athlete can obtain approval to use a prescribed prohibited
substance or method for the treatment of a legitimate medical
condition. There are two types of TUE:
1) standard TUE - required for a Prohibited Substance or
Prohibited Method other than inhaled beta-2 agonists
2) TUE specifically for asthma - only required for the use of
inhaled beta-2 agonists for certain products i.e. formoterol and
