Biography

Nicky is a chartered physiotherapist and a reader at Cardiff University, who has worked in High Performance sport for over 25 years. During that time she has completed a MSc in Sports Injury and Therapy as well as a PhD in rehabilitation of Anterior Cruciate Ligament injury.

Nicky became a Fellow of the Chartered Society of  Physiotherapy in 2011 and is president of the International Federation of Sports Physiotherapy. She is also a Board member of the Commonwealth Games Council for Wales.  Nicki travelled as physiotherapist with Team Wales to the 1986 Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh and Team GB to the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona. She has worked with the respective Welsh and British teams since then, either at the Games or Preparation Camps, totaling 7 Commonwealth Games and 5 Olympic Games. Nicky then led a team of volunteer physiotherapists, osteopaths and chiropractors in the Games Village Polyclinic of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Nicky combines her academic and clinical work through a consultancy with Sport Wales, where she advises on strategic direction of Medical and Therapies support in the High Performance Unit.
