Biography

Julia's career started out in Cardiff, South Wales (1995-2004) providing performance analysis consultancy with Cardiff Met's (formally UWIC) Centre for Performance Analysis team working across the years with a multitude of sports and Sport Wales. Combined with academic study this proved to be a successful combination towards gaining employment within the English Institute of Sport in Loughborough 2004.

Julia's path continued to be diverse working across multi-sports and then evolved into a one sport focus for GB Canoeing's Canoe Slalom Olympic Programme for the Beijing 2008 and London 2012 Olympic Games. Relocation to the Lee Valley EIS site took place in 2010 and work positively progressed at the new Lee Valley White Water Centre in preparation for our home Olympics in London. One of Julia's career highlights is seeing all the team's hard work over the years paying off with Canoe Slalom's best ever Olympic success story to date of Gold & Silver Medallists in the men's Canoe Doubles (C2) category. This success has continued with 2 newly crowned World Champions of 2013 in the Men's Canoe Singles and Doubles and the legacy work is showing to be fruitful for team GB's preparation for the Rio 2016 Olympics.

Alongside the sports delivery role Julia has become an integral part of the technical PA team within the EIS. This role is aligned to the new EIS Technically Led institution and has increased to managing analysts across a number of Olympic sports and continuing to strengthen organisation partnerships and technical development. This has led to Julia's newly appointed role within Sport Wales which is focused on developing and implementing their performance analysis strategy in order to support Wales' key Commonwealth and Olympic focused sports.
