Biography

Backstroke specialist Georgia Davies made her senior breakthrough appearing for Wales at the Commonwealth Games in Delhi 2010 where she came home with a bronze medal in the 50m backstroke.

The 24 year-old from Swansea first started swimming with a friend at 10 years-old and went on to gain her first international medal at the European Junior Championships.

In 2014, Davies won the gold medal in the 50 metres backstroke, and silver in the 100m backstroke at the 2014 Commonwealth Games. A month later, she won silver in the 50m backstroke and bronze in the 100m backstroke and 4 x 100m medley relay at the 2014 European Championships.

Georgia has always found representing her country a real honour and has competed for Wales at the 2008 Commonwealth Youth Games, and of course the Delhi 2010 Games.

Fulfilling her dream to compete for GB at the Olympics, Georgia made her debut at the London 2012 Games where she finished 15th in the 100m backstroke, whilst 2013 saw her finish in an impressive sixth place in the 50m backstroke at the 2013 World Championships in Barcelona.
