Community Sport and Activity Project

Over the past eighteen months, Sport Wales has undertaken a review of its investment into community sport.

We want to create and implement a world-class delivery framework and operating model for community sport in Wales that:

  • Proactivity responds to the challenging economic conditions;
  • Sensitively reflects changes in Welsh society;
  • Anticipates significant changes in the way public services are planned and delivered;
  • Tackles inequalities; and, most importantly of all,
  • Is results driven and delivers on our aim to get more people active through sport in all communities in Wales

The creation of a new outcome-based delivery framework for Sport Wales investment into community sport is seen as a significant step forward to realising a better planned and coordinated sport sector.

It has the potential to become a catalyst for others to review their own approach to community sport. The Community Sport Project Group are responsible for communicating the case for change, through working with existing and new partners to shape, plan, design and deliver a new world-class delivery framework for Wales.

The Project has developed an outline Business Case for change, capable of allowing Sport Wales to make an investment decision on the Preferred way forward by May 2015. Phase Two will involve a period of transition to and implementation of the new delivery framework. Please click here for our framework strategy that currently outlines what we hope to achieve.
