Training and Development

We know that to get the right people, with the right skills, in the right jobs, we have to invest in our employees. We are passionate about continuous personal and professional development.  Right from the start of your employment you will be given a tailor made induction programme and will be offered all the essential training to get you started.  Throughout your employment Sport Wales will continue to invest in you through a variety of development opportunities such as job specific training, regular lunchtime workshops, coaching and mentoring, improving welsh language skills, as well as the opportunity to undertake long term study.  We are particularly proud of our CMI accredited Leadership and Management programme which is available for all employees and has made a real difference to Sport Wales.  All of this has helped us to achieve Investors in People Gold accreditation in 2015.

Positive about disabled people

We are committed to employing people with a disability and as part of this scheme agree:

  • to interview all applicants with a disability who meet the minimum criteria for a job vacancy
  • to ensure there is a mechanism in place to discuss, at any time, but at least once a year, with disabled employees, what Sport Wales and they can do to make sure they can develop and use their abilities.
  • to make every effort when employees become disabled, to make sure they stay in employment.
  • to take action to ensure that all employees develop the appropriate level of disability awareness needed to make our commitments work.
  • each year, to review the five commitments and what has been achieved, to plan ways to improve on them, and let employees and Job Centre Plus know about progress and future plans.
